Towson vs Norfolk State

Norfolk State entrance

The 2025 football season kicked off at Norfolk State last Thursday night as Norfolk State hosted Towson University. It was a 7pm kickoff so I parked at MacArthur Center and hopped on the Tide to take me over to Norfolk State. I was bringing along my Nikon Z9 and Nikon Z8 along with my Nikkor 400mm f/4.5 and Nikkor Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena lenses.

Michael Vick’s debut as Norfolk State’s head coach drew plenty of attention in Norfolk on August 28, 2025, but Towson spoiled the occasion with a decisive 27–7 victory. Freshman quarterback Andrew Indorf stole the spotlight, completing 14 of 26 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns in his first collegiate start.

Towson struck early in the first quarter with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jaceon Doss and a 24-yard field goal from Caden Williams. Williams added a 50-yarder before halftime, sending the Tigers into the locker room with a 13–0 lead. Norfolk State showed life in the fourth quarter when Jaylen Laudermilk capped a drive with an 8-yard touchdown run, but Indorf immediately answered with a 36-yard strike to Zay Perkins and later a 15-yard touchdown to John Dunmore to seal the win.

The Tiger defense was just as impressive, holding NSU to only 39 rushing yards and shutting them down on third down (3-of-12). Towson also stood tall in the final minute, stuffing four straight goal-line plays to preserve the victory. Norfolk State quarterback Otto Kuhns threw for 219 yards, with big games from DreSean Kendrick (125 yards) and Kam’Ryn Thomas (105 yards), but the Spartans couldn’t find consistency against a relentless Towson front.

Norfolk State had a couple touchdown’s taken off the board in this game due to penalties. Their offensive line still needs a lot of improvement if they want to feature Kevon King, who has a lot of pre-season accolades.
