I spent another Saturday morning at Stumpy Lake Natural Area in Virginia Beach. The colors were just starting to change. Still not a lot of birds but there were a few that were in photographic range.
The water level is a bit higher than normal due to the nor’easter we just had, but it didn’t stop this Great Blue Heron from still wading in the water in search of breakfast.
I found another Great Blue Heron that was more interested in staying dry.
I was able to located this Great Egret roosting in one of the Cypress trees. It was spending a lot of time grooming itself. I love this shot I got of it.
I will be visiting pretty much every weekend between now and the end of the year. Just waiting for the birds to arrive in force.
