My wife and I decided to take the kids to New York City for Spring Break this year. We had a blast! I love New York. My daughter and I could live there. My wife and son don’t feel the same. We drove up Wednesday and took in a game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. The Yankees are my sons favorite team so I know he was excited. The weather wasn’t too kind to us, however. It was brutally cold. I think the temperature at game time was 40ºF. The Yankees didn’t put on much of a show for us either. Boston won easily.
I was slightly disappointed with Yankee Stadium. It felt very sterile too me. It didn’t seem to have a personality to me. I don’t have a lot to go on, but I’ve been to Camden Yards in Baltimore and Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Both of those parks were more attractive too me.
For our trip to New York, I decided to rent the Olympus OM-D E-M5 micro four thirds camera. I didn’t want to carry around my Canon 7D and my Canon 24-105mm lens. The Olympus did a terrific job. I’m very impressed. The only complaints I have of it are that it’s a little weak in low light conditions and it’s uncomfortable in my hand. I’m sure a battery grip would have alleviated that.
So without further ado, here are a couple pictures I shot at Yankee Stadium.
